I am a neonatologist based in London. My work focuses on building the small, sharp tools that solve the specific friction points of clinical practice and the occasional cognitive overhead of working in the NICU.
The ethos is simple: if a machine is broken, whether it’s a hospital workflow, a baby’s nutrition prescription, or a phone directory, don’t wait for someone else to fix it for us. Empower end-users to fix it ourselves.
Clinical Utilities
These tools are designed to work offline, ensuring they remain reliable in the depths of a hospital ward where wifi and cellular signal can’t penetrate.
- 🏥 CotMatch: A cot-locating tool for matching babies to neonatal units across the UK that meet their needs closest to home, with integrated directory of direct ward phone numbers and each NNU’s capablities.
- 🖇️ Y-Sight: A rapid screening tool for checking the compatibility of NICU infusions at the Y-site. Designed for when you have reached the hard limit of available line lumens in a sick micropremmie with difficult access and need to rationalise and sequence drug delivery.
- 🦠 EOScalc: An offline implementation of the 2017 Neonatal Early-Onset Sepsis Calculator, facilitating bedside risk assessment without the need for a stable connection or reliance on transatlantic relations staying sweet.
- 🌞 Biligram: A focused utility for charting and interpreting neonatal bilirubin levels to manage jaundice and compare recommendations between the UK and USA guidelines.
- ⏱️ SafeShift: NICU handover timer and cognitive aid, built around the I-PASS framework. Tracks handover flow in real time, surfaces section-specific prompts, logs interruptions, and produces structured data ready for QIP analysis.
- 🧫 Abstrum: Antibiotic spectrum visualiser for comparing antimicrobial coverage at a glance. Designed as a quick teaching aid to navigate the map of pathogen susceptibility and antimicrobial synergy, with visual indicators to flag ecological impact.
Life & Logic
Outside the NICU, I build things to handle the distractions of the world and the complexities of being a human in London.
- 📏 LinearClock: A 24-hour linear representation of time, built specifically for those of us with ADHD or time-blindness who find the traditional clock face a poor fit for the shape of a day.
- 🎡 Ledger: A Grandparent’s Guide to Kids’ Days Out in London. This is a curated effort to make the city manageable for the older generation taking the younger one on an adventure.
- 💷 Offers Directory: Searchable, offline-capable directory of NHS and healthcare staff discounts, ordering thousands of offers from multiple discount programmes into one faster and less maddening interface.
